new rear units design at 99% -changed from 40 to 45mm piston diameter -spring changed from 1.9" single spring to 2.25"ID 9"long main + 2"long helper spring -new spring hat that moves the spring to a position where it fits in the chassis without contact and the damper can pass thorough in the hollow center of it.
another pair of modified, low profile adjustable lcas done. guys, take caution when you buy a big brake kit! its not the first time i had to do this because even though this kit is sold as ae86 big brake kit, the grp four kit actually DOES NOT FIT up the 86 with factory lower control arms. the disk intersect the lca outer edge around the balljoint. theres no quick and easy fix to this. if you try to hammer+grind off the edge of the control arm, it will still strike the disk on bump, people also end up with damaged control arms and loose balljoint fixation because of hammering. i used to cut off the whole balljoint area and replace it with a special ring to save space, it fixes the problem, but the disk will still be very close to the balljoint.
ae86 alloy hubs are up for orders! -weigth: 0.88kg. saves 1kg of unsprung weigth over the factory item! -oem dimensions -100% compatible with oem hardware -dual PCD: 4x114.3 + 4x100 -wheel studs included €140 per hub

I will be using these kind of beauties for my axle builds from now. Reproduction golf/passat calipers and they are non vw branded. Fresh and new, still use vw pads.

Update on the ultimate coilover project... the second rear prototype fabrication is started this week. meanwhile i have found ways to improve here and there on the production parts. the kit will feature tender springs to aid traction on unloaded wheels and also to eliminate the possibility of noise caused by loose spring on unloaded side. also helps at road imperfections when you run high spring rates. another addition is noise reduction cushions between the strut and the springs. the springperches will be made of billet aluminum from now, to save weight. front strut top spring plate was also redesigned to have a tapered roller bearing inside instead my earlier design with axial thrust ball bearing. this is also to reduce noise and to reduce spring misalignment on loads. the coating of the parts were also changed, steel parts will be black chrome coated, alloy parts will be anodized black. the rear coilovers changed the most since the first design. now they are the same diameter as the fronts and also use the same internal parts. Theres one problem though, with all the additional parts and improvements, more expensive materials, coatings, better springs, these all come together and makes this kit an expensive one. As I see more people interested in this set i really wonder now, how many people would actually buy this. the kit will cost about €1200-1300. I know it is much more expensive compared to the regular chinese products. there are several reasons for this: #1: it is made in europe, #2. limited production, #3 does not share common parts with other manufacturers products. #4. best possible quality in machining, materials, and coatings. Anyway, please comment here, send me a message or e-mail me if you are seriously considering getting yourself the ultimate coilover kit! This email address is being protected from spambots.
